I choose Team Jesus

I choose Team Jesus.

Because I can’t see what’s coming and I have experienced how He prepares me, I choose team Jesus. He has “proved it in days that are past” and I experience Him providing for me anytime I come to Him. When I pray I know that He provides the blessings and opportunities. He is the reason for possibility and hope.

Because I have felt the “song of Redeeming love” and desperately need His help daily, I choose Team Jesus. Changing the parts of me that are messy often seems impossible and I know that I can trust Him to fill in where I lack. I have seen the “greatness of God” and I have experienced how He consecrates my meager offering and changes it into something better. I’ve seen how He compensates in all areas in my life, what I’ve lost and all that I hope to gain.

Because I have lost people close to me and ache to see them again, I choose Team Jesus. Some day, somehow, I trust that because of His Redemption and Resurrection I will see them again. I trust that there is more beyond what I can see and that their spirits exist somewhere, waiting and working until God calls us each home. Because I can not control the things that will come, the sickness and pain, I trust Jesus to help me through it, no matter what it is. I trust that He takes care of His teammates.

Because I know that we all once lived with loving Heavenly Parents before this Earth, I choose Team Jesus. It is because of Jesus Christ that I am able to have any access to them. He builds the bridge between my current mortal imperfected self and the divine potential within me. It is because of all that Jesus did that the large gap between who I want to be and who I actually am can be overcome. Because of how He advocates for me and my imperfect state that it is even possible to one day return to live with them with my family.

Because I get afraid of the storms of life and the darkness I know exists, I choose Jesus. I have felt the darkness and I don’t want it. I’ve seen what the opposing team does to their teammates, no thank you. I see how the opposition abandons in anger and fear, in loss and desperation, leaving one trapped in sin under the weight of consequences alone. Instead, I want all the benefits of team Jesus: the Hope, the Trust, the Faith, the Protection, and the Power to Move mountains. These blessings outweigh any cost that I am called to pay to be on the team.

Because I know that He is in charge and can see the long game, I will stay on Team Jesus. No matter where the team decides to go, I am in. Even when I don’t understand the game plan, I am on this team. Every day I put on my uniform so that I am ready for when and where ever He needs me. Put me in coach, I’m ready. I know I don’t fully understand His methods and I can’t see all the players like He can, but I trust that He’ll tell me where I need to go and how I need to proceed. He’s played this game before and because of that I can trust to follow His lead. I know that when I drop the ball, He’ll comfort me in my mistakes and in my heartache when it gets hard. I know that Jesus will hold my heart when it gets heavy and hold my hand when I need to be led on. Even when I’m tired and weary from the game, I’m staying in and holding onto the strength He offers so that I can continue. Because I love Him and want to be like him.

For all of this and more, I choose Team Jesus.

Rhonda is our Digital Illustrator and part of our Content Team.

Rhonda is a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints thanks to her parents joining the church when they were younger.

Rhonda was married to her love, Regan, in 2000 and together they have 5 unique, creative, incredibly smart kids. Rhonda feels completely overwhelmed with the many humans she must boss around.

They love music in their house of all kinds (really except Rap) from the different lessons her kids take to the various basement concerts they host.

Rhonda likes to pretend she’s organized, but really she’s an unorganized spontaneous creative extrovert. She’s interested in learning everything and seeing everywhere and anywhere.

Rhonda loves traveling and seeing different places but Waterton Parks, Alberta, Canada is her favorite place to visit.

Rhonda is a bit obsessed with bread (in fact a “bread head”) and she loves baking and cooking anything, especially if it is difficult to bake. She doesn’t go many days without baking something. She loves pretty much all good food and her husband teases her that she’s a food snob but she’ll kindly accept any treats you want to make her.

Rhonda is a professional photographer, a “for fun” painter, an obsessive memory keeper, a quick reader, and a lover of nature. She will talk to pretty much anyone and loves making new friends and considers herself great at friend matching – helping match people who be good friends with each other.

Rhonda is terrible at saying no to things so she’s currently sitting on 3 town boards in her lovely town of Raymond, Alberta, Canada. She loves to discuss the different aspects of the gospel and currently serves as a ward gospel doctrine teacher.

Rhonda currently resides in Alberta, Canada.
